Since her parents were taken from her when she was seven, and she was betrayed by someone who was supposed to protect her, she doesn't want to open herself up to heartache, or disappointment if someone else lets her down. In Broken, we meet Jess, who has closed herself off from her emotions in the hopes that it will keep her self reliant. The Trilogy was great, and Broken is just as good. resulting in one very large collection of well written, enjoyable to read series.īroken starts The Watcher Chronicles, which is a continuation of The Watchers Trilogy. she connects her stories and after you read two or three, you begin to notice how, even if the characters change from one series to the next, the stories actually intertwine and connect to one another. Most of her books can be read as stand alone, not requiring the reader to have read previous novels. ![]() I enjoy her work and am always thrilled when she releases the next installment in her series. Her stories, her characters are so thought out I imagine she has walls in her home, or office, dedicated to sticky notes and string connecting various ideas, characters, plots, etc. West is an exception as every single one of her books is grammatically correct making them easy to read. I hardly ever put my Kindle down, reading two books per week on average, and I'm finding lately that more and more often authors are not proof reading their own books, or not hiring capable editors, and the results are a book that you literally stutter through due to all kinds of mutilations to the English language and proper grammar rules. So I'm going to try to stick to the methods behind this book and how the author's approach makes this a must read. I am not very good at writing reviews and not spoiling the read for others. Broken by past events in their lives, they each struggle to overcome their fears and find the strength to take a chance on one another.Ī wonderfully well written and thought out novel. Mason and Jess instantly find themselves drawn to one another but they both resist their mutual attraction for different reasons.
